Lonely Candle Sconce Feels Special With a Plaque

We had a lonely thrifty wire candle sconce hanging in our master bath. Rarely used and neglected. Deciding it needed a little more oomph I made a wood plank plaque to hang it on.
The wood planks were simply wood glued together. Of course, I added broken spindles between a couple of the wood pieces for character. I didn't even line up the wood planks straight along the edges. More character.
I aged the wood (and spindles) with black tea and "ironed vinegar." Then dry brushed with cream and then white chalky type paint.
Now the candle sconce has bulk and hangs proud. I could use a bit of oomph too!

Dusty and lonely with glass crystals.

Aging the wood planks using black tea and vinegar that had pieces of steel wool broken down.

Dry brushed and hanging proud with battery candles covered in chunky wax. We live in a forest area and use mostly battery candles for safety.

These battery candles were covered with washi tape. Too hot right now to cover with wax. :)
