A Dated Oak Kitchen Refresh

The homeowners just recently purchased this house and still haven't moved in. The kitchen is tired, and the island is awkward. On the plus side, the hardwood floors are gorgeous, and it feels spacious with the nine foot ceilings. So, nothing a little paint and hard work can't solve!

You can see where the island just isn't working in this space. It's tiered, and it's positioned too closely to the far side of the kitchen, making it feel cramped. The hardware also isn't doing this kitchen any favors.

Lots of changes taking place in this space before they move in. New counters are going to be installed, the walls will be painted, the island is being moved and reconfigured, bead board added to the exposed ends of the cabinets and the island, crown molding added to the tops of the cabinets (always a game changer).

My part in this project was painting the cabinets and changing out the hardware. Never underestimate the impact that updated hardware can have!
