Fabric Inlaid Dresser

Hi there Hometalk Friends! Are you up for a little furniture makeover? Today I'm sharing the makeover of one very brown thrift store dresser.

Now I know we get fussed at sometimes when we paint perfectly good wood furniture, but the top was actually laminate. I'm not sure why that was so popular at one time?






To really make this piece unique, I added one of my favorite fabrics (from Hancock Fabrics) to the drawer panels.






I used a rotary cutter and a straight edge to get nice straight cuts, then I handled it as minimally as possible to reduce the chances of fraying. I attached the fabric to the fronts using Matte Mod Podge. I just brushed it on each drawer front like glue and attached the fabric.






I kept the original pulls, but spray painted them using Rustoleum's Heirloom White:






I used a 220 grit sand paper to rough them up a bit.

I love the results. It hardly looks like the same dresser!
