This is my first ever post on any website so forgive me if its not quite great! I've read loads of these on Hometalk and this is just right up my street. I love to take what's old, scabby and unloved and repair, up cycle and create something useful. Or I should say, I come up with some great ideas and my amazing husband brings them all to life. This was the side of our house which left the passer by looking into our back garden, that's if they could see past the broken fence panels propped up at the side of the house and the other junk lying around.Old fence panels, paint pots and weeds that were out of control.
Let's get started!
We started by clearing away all the rubbish. Storing away what could be used on a rainy day for building something out of nothing. Next my very handy husband built a small fence from the side of the house to the existing fence, using high posts. This was made out of old fence slats we had lying around. Next he added a bit of trellis. As if this was not brilliant enough, he then scraped back all the red chips, re-laid new weed control fabric and replaced the chips. Next he repaired a broken bench that we'd had for years. It was an anniversary gift that had seen better days and finally collapsed into pieces. But again my handy husband breathed new life into it by sanding down all the slats, cut off all broken bits of timber, reholed the slats and fitted new nuts/bolts. I did the hard bit.... Sprayed the oil.... Lol!
Not only did this tidy up the side of the house. When the plants (clematis) have grown up the trellis this will provide much needed screening to my back garden from nosy passers by and give me some much needed privacy. Not to be outdone, I potted the plants! I'm already planning his next job!
