Painting a China Cabinet

One of my recent projects that I’m sharing was to update and add new life to my full size china hutch.
It was a perfectly fine hutch, just really dark. And boring. A big brown piece of furniture that didn’t do anything for the room it was in.

Here is the before picture:

Like I said, that’s a whole lotta brown! And the dark color makes it look twice as big as it actually is.
So after getting some “Pinspiration” from looking at pictures of painted furniture on Pinterest, I decided to go ahead and paint it a color that would really stand out in the living room and brighten things up.
I went to a great little shop by my house that sells both Milk Paint & Chalk Paint. I settled on Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Duck Egg Blue with a coat of the clear wax. It’s the prettiest soft blue. If you haven’t tried AS before, it’s pretty much odor free and easy really to work with. No sanding or laborious prep of your piece is needed

I painted two coats in one day ( this paint dries fast) waited a few days, then applied a coat of the AS clear wax to seal and protect the paint.
A small investment of time for a big impact! I love how it turned out.
