I found an old, very damaged radio stand at a yard sale for $5. Even though it was really trashed with peeling veneer and broken wood I saw a lot of potential for what this old piece of furniture could become. The after picture is of a beautiful white painted table, perfectly distressed, with all the wood intact.
What I started out with was not really so pretty though. And this picture doesn't even do justice to just how bad the piece was.
The finish on the entire piece was either really dirty or worn away.
And the veneer was raised across the top board.
But I loved the intricate scroll work on the front....even though pieces were missing and had to be recreated.
And the turned legs were so pretty.
There were definitely moments that I thought I may be crazy for trying fix such a broken down piece....but I kept working.
And after a lot of gluing, sanding, and chalk-painting, the table became the beauty that I knew she could be.
All the work was worth it in the end.
Now I have a really unique buffet-style table that can be used just about anywhere in the house. All the details for how I found this piece and the transformation it went through can be seen on my blog at the link below. What do you think!?!?
