My gym was throwing away this awesome plastic Little Tikes playhouse... this sells for $300-400 normally so I was appalled. I asked them if I could take it and they said yes so I hauled it home, painted it, and replaced missing parts. There were a LOT of missing parts, but the ones I could order off the Little Tikes site ran me $25. I'm still working on a couple more items like replacing the door with a wooden door and replacing the soccer netting, but I think we should be able to replace those pretty inexpensively and likely with wood that we already have.
My sons are THRILLED, particularly the older one, who thinks that having mommy or daddy "build" him things is just the coolest thing ever. I just hope the weather cools down a bit because he wants to play in it *all the time* and the kids are drenched in sweat after 30 minutes. And me... me too.

I wish I'd gotten a picture of it altogether but I was too busy trying to unscrew stuff and get it into my car before someone else snatched it up. Haha.
My husband power washed it for me... there were mega spiders allllll over it. I'm so glad he took one for the team here.
I spray painted it all...
Then I sat down to paint the details in for the sides. I didn't do all the sides because it was EXTREMELY time consuming. I hand painted details on five sides (both sides of the 2 yellow pieces and one side of the teal)...
I put a few tv shows in the background while I painted- I watched 2 episodes of Orange is the New Black, 6 episodes of The Newsroom, and 1 episode of Supernatural to finish what I did. And really... it needed extra coats on some items. I just couldn't bring myself to spend a year painting it all. Eek.
This is one of the insides partially painted.
Once I was finished, I replaced the accessories and sealed it with a UV spray that will hopefully keep the paint from fading. Please please please. If you have any suggestions for a better sealer on this, I'd love to hear them.
I put the whole house together outside and my sons are SO happy. I am hoping my husband can make a half door for it this weekend.
And here G is, so proud of his new house. He is OBSESSED.
